Kabumpo in Oz

Kabumpo in Oz
The sixteenth Oz book is also one of the strangest and most lovable. Kabumpo, an elderly elephant of tremendous vanity and even more tremendous heart, stumbles upon a mysterious Box of Magic that launches him and young Prince Pompa into adventures across lands they've never imagined. Along the way they meet Peg Amy, a wooden doll searching for her missing lover, and face off against Ruggedo, the wicked Gnome King, who has his own designs on the magical Box. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Glinda, Tik-Tok, and the rest of the Emerald City crowd all put in appearances, but this is Kabumpo's show. Thompson's Oz is stranger and more playful than Baum's, full of wild inventions and gentle wisdom disguised as silliness. For anyone who ever wanted to live inside a world where magic boxes contain impossible things and pompous elephants save the day.
