Journey of Coronado

Journey of Coronado is a historical account written by Pedro de Castañeda, a soldier in Francisco Vásquez de Coronado's 1540 expedition. The narrative details the search for the legendary golden cities of Cíbola, revealing instead the Grand Canyon, buffalo plains, and Zuni and Pecos pueblos. This volume includes Castañeda's firsthand observations and letters from Coronado to the viceroy of Mexico and the Spanish king, translated from Spanish by George Parker Winship. It provides a vivid glimpse into early exploration and encounters in North America.
