Journael ofte gedenckwaerdige beschrijvinghe van de Oost-Indische reyse
Journael ofte gedenckwaerdige beschrijvinghe is a ship's journal written by Willem Ysbrantsz Bontekoe, first published in 1646. It chronicles his experiences as a captain for the Dutch East India Company (VOC) during his voyage from Texel to Java in 1618, including perilous adventures such as a shipwreck, encounters with Chinese traders, and a devastating hurricane. This work provides a vivid account of maritime life in the early 17th century and inspired the popular youth book 'De scheepsjongens van Bontekoe' by Johan Fabricius.
