Jean Craig in New York

Jean Craig thought she'd left her art dreams behind when her family moved to a Connecticut farm. The brushstrokes and studios of New York felt like another life entirely, until opportunity knocked and she found herself boarding a train toward the city she'd always feared she'd never see. Living with her cousin Beth in the suburbs, Jean rediscovers what it means to breathe for her art again: the galleries, the late-night conversations with fellow artists, the electric hum of a metropolis that doesn't sleep. Then she meets Aldo Thomas, an Italian artist whose presence complicates everything she thought she wanted. This is a story about the courage it takes to want something badly enough to leave everything familiar behind, and the gaiety with which one family meets life's unexpected turns.
