Hofgedachten

Hofgedachten
Hofgedachten, published in 1655, is a collection of religious reflections in verse by Dutch poet Jacob Cats. Inspired by the beauty of nature during his walks on his estate in Sorghvliet, Cats combines personal contemplation with observations of the natural world. Known as 'Vader Cats,' he was a prominent figure in Dutch literature, with many sayings in the Dutch language attributed to him. His works were widely read, often alongside the Bible, making him a significant cultural figure in the Netherlands during the 17th century.
