Gycia: A Tragedy in Five Acts

In the ancient kingdoms of Bosphorus and Cherson, two dynasties teeter on the edge of war. When the aging King of Bosphorus faces mounting threats from his rival state, his statesman proposes an elegant solution: marry Prince Asander to Gycia, daughter of the Archon of Cherson. A union forged in political necessity, binding enemies into allies. But as Asander journeys to claim his bride, he carries not just a crown's weight but the dread of marrying a stranger from a house his kingdom has long opposed. Gycia, too, steps into this arrangement knowing it is less a marriage than a treaty made flesh. What begins as cold strategy slowly ignites into something far more dangerous. Yet this is a tragedy, and the lovers must discover that some doors, once opened, cannot be closed and some loyalties, once divided, cannot be reconciled. Lewis Morris crafts a meditation on duty and desire that echoes across centuries, asking only whether the heart can survive what the crown demands.
