Fidessa

Published in the early 20th century, 'Fidessa' by Louis Couperus tells the story of a nymph who dances and sings with her sisters in a lush meadow. The narrative follows Fidessa as she is taken by the armored knight Sans-Joye to his fortified castle after being swept away by the mystical Unicorn. Couperus's lyrical prose and vivid imagery showcase his unique style among Dutch prose writers.
