Down the Mackenzie and Up the Yukon in 1906

Down the Mackenzie and Up the Yukon in 1906 is a travelogue by Elihu Stewart, first published in 1913. The book recounts Stewart's journey through the largely uncharted sub-arctic regions of Canada, navigating the Mackenzie and Yukon River systems. It provides detailed observations of the landscapes, natural resources, and indigenous cultures he encountered, reflecting on the hospitality of local inhabitants and the challenges of exploring a virtually untouched wilderness. Stewart's narrative is grounded in a report he submitted to the Canadian government, offering a historical perspective on early 20th-century exploration.
