The story revolves around two men named Allan Armadale and their respective sons, both named Allan Armadale, whose lives become intertwined following the murder of one of the fathers by his namesake. Collins, known for works like 'The Woman in White' and 'The Moonstone,' weaves a complex narrative set in various locations, including Yorkshire and 19th-century London. The first German edition was translated by Marie Scott and released in six volumes.
