Apology

Apology is a significant work by Tertullian, written in Carthage around AD 197. In this text, Tertullian defends Christianity and argues for the legal toleration of Christians, asserting that they should be treated equally to other religious sects within the Roman Empire. This work is notable for being one of the earliest Christian apologetic texts, laying the groundwork for future defenses of the faith.
