A Statement: On the Future of This Church

Published in 1917, 'A Statement: On the Future of This Church' by John Haynes Holmes is a reflective sermon that explores the evolution and future direction of the Church of the Messiah. Holmes, a Unitarian minister, emphasizes the need for religious institutions to adapt to social changes, particularly in the aftermath of the Great War. He advocates for a more community-oriented church that prioritizes social justice and inclusivity over traditional denominational boundaries, ultimately reaffirming his commitment to the church's mission of service and reform.
