Young Folks' Bible in Words of Easy Reading: The Sweet Stories of God's Word in the Language of Childhood

What happens when you translate the grand narrative of Scripture into the language of childhood? Josephine Pollard's late 19th-century adaptation does exactly this, rendering the stories of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jesus into terms a young mind can grasp and love. This isn't a Bible for reading at church; it's one for curled-up reading at bedtime, where the Flood becomes an adventure and the journey of the Israelites becomes a story that feels made for small ears. Pollard understood that children don't need watered-down theology. They need stories told with the same wonder they bring to fairy tales. The result is a book that has warmed the hearts of young readers for over a century, introducing the Bible's greatest narratives not as obligation but as invitation.
