Woman of Mystery

Woman of Mystery
In 1898, a boy watches his father die at the hands of a woman in black lace. Twenty years later, he weds and arrives at her chateau, part of his bride's inheritance, only to find a portrait that shatters his world: the face of his father's killer is his wife's mother. The past does not rest. A man resembling the dead woman attacks him in the night, and he is left torn between the woman he loves and the poison of suspicion. When the Great War erupts, he answers the call, seeking answers in the trenches that may finally release him from the torments of that childhood night. Leblanc weaves a darkly atmospheric tale of inherited guilt, the weight of secrets, and the terrible mathematics of love when trust has been murdered.
