Witch of the Glens

1644 Scotland burns with civil war, and in the shadowed glens around Inverness, a seventeen-year-old girl runs. Kelpie has never known a home beyond the wandering gypsy road, never known parents beyond the old witch Mina and her brutish companion Bogle, who claim she was kidnapped because her blue-ringed eyes carry the Second Sight. The townspeople call her "wicked wee lass" and hurl stones, crying "briosag" - curse-word and accusation both. But Kelpie harbors a secret question: was she stolen from a castle? From nobility? When two fine young men enter her dangerous world, she must choose between the only family she's ever known and the terrifying possibility of discovering who she truly is. Sally Watson crafts historical adventure with real stakes against the backdrop of Scotland's bloody sectarian turmoil, weaving gypsy folklore and the supernatural into a story about belonging - not to blood or birth, but to self.
