Where Animals Talk: West African Folk Lore Tales

Where Animals Talk: West African Folk Lore Tales
Where Animals Talk: West African Folk Lore Tales is a collection of 61 folktales compiled by Robert Hamill Nassau, a medical missionary who spent four decades in Africa, beginning in 1861. The tales originate from various West African cultures, including 16 from Mpongwe storytellers in Gabon, 34 from Benga storytellers in Equatorial Guinea, and 11 from Fang storytellers in Cameroon. Nassau translated these stories into English, providing insights into the animal characters with their original names in the respective languages, making this work a significant contribution to the preservation of African folklore.
