Vida del escudero Marcos de Obregón

Published in 1618, 'Vida del escudero Marcos de Obregón' is a picaresque novel by Vicente Espinel, notable for its autobiographical elements and a more agile narrative style compared to contemporaries like Mateo Alemán. The novel features moral lessons presented in a less heavy-handed manner and was influential enough to inspire the later work 'Gil Blas de Santillana' by Alain René Lesage. It was also translated into French and English, with the latter version published in 1816 by Algernon Langton.
