True Version of the Philippine Revolution

In the spring of 1899, Emilio Aguinaldo set down the true account of his nation's revolution, and in doing so created one of history's most devastating documents of betrayed promise. The Filipino general had just led his people through a successful uprising against three centuries of Spanish rule, only to watch another power arrive with empty assurances of freedom. This is his testimony: the story of a republic declared, of battles won, of trust extended to American officials who spoke of liberation while preparing for conquest. Written with the urgency of a man who knew his young nation faced annihilation, the account documents not merely military campaigns but the bitter education of a people who learned that independence meant nothing to imperial powers who had already divided the world among themselves. It endures as the voice of the revolution itself, unfiltered, angry, and unreconciled.
