Troublous Times in Canada: A History of the Fenian Raids of 1866 and 1870

Written in the early 20th century, 'Troublous Times in Canada' by John A. MacDonald provides a historical account of the Fenian Raids of 1866 and 1870, where Irish nationalists attempted to invade Canada from the United States. MacDonald, a veteran of these campaigns, highlights the bravery of Canadian volunteers who defended their homeland and explores the political climate in Ireland and the rise of the Fenian Brotherhood. The book aims to raise awareness of these significant events and their implications for Canada and Britain during a turbulent period in Irish-British relations.
