Tosa Diary
The Tosa Diary, written in 935 by Ki no Tsurayuki, is a significant work of Japanese literature from the Heian period. It chronicles Tsurayuki's journey back to Kyoto from Tosa province, where he served as governor. The diary, composed entirely in kana, features personal reflections on sea sickness, fears of pirates, and offerings to sea gods, along with numerous waka poems. This work is notable for its use of kana, highlighting the literary contributions of women in the era and Tsurayuki's role as one of Japan's Thirty-six Poetry Immortals.
