Thoughts on Missions

A passionate plea from a 19th century missionary to his fellow theologians, written after years of service in the field. Sheldon Dibble addresses his former classmates with an urgent appeal: the Great Commission is not optional for those who call themselves Christian. What makes this slim volume compelling is not its theological sophistication but its window into the mind of a man wholly consumed by his calling. Dibble builds his case through scripture, personal testimony, and repeated appeals to Christ's own sacrifice, arguing that true faith demands missionary action. The language is of its era, earnest, sometimes uncomfortable to modern ears, but never dishonest. This is a document of profound conviction, capturing both the nobility and the blind spots of an era when Western missionaries believed they carried salvation itself. For readers interested in religious history, missionary studies, or the evolution of Christian thought, it offers an unvarnished glimpse into 19th century evangelical conviction.
