The World Above: A Duologue

Beneath a gleaming metropolis of light and warmth lives a people who have never seen the sun. The World Above is a two-character dialogue set in The Darker Realm, a vast subterranean network of tunnels and chambers where those born in shadow dream obsessively of the beautiful city that exists impossibly far above them. They know it only in fragments, in rumors, in longing. They have never felt warmth on their skin or seen color in the sky. Yet they yearn for it with an ache that defines their entire existence. This is a meditation on desire itself: what it means to want what you cannot reach, to build a life in the space between dreaming and having. The work captures the universal experience of those who live at the margins, reaching always toward a light that remains perpetually out of grasp. It is both a gentle tragedy and a quiet celebration of the human spirit's refusal to stop wanting, even when wanting is all it has.
