The Weird Adventures of Professor Delapine of the Sorbonne

The Sorbonne has its share of eccentrics, but Professor Delapine is something else entirely: a man of science who dares to knock on doors that better minds prefer to keep sealed. When not lecturing on matters terrestrial, he pursues inquiries into the spirit world, the occult, and phenomena that polite academia refuses to acknowledge. His investigations lead him through séance chambers, into the company of charlatans and genuine mystics, and face to face with evidence that cannot be explained by conventional physics. Delapine is brilliant, arrogant, and utterly unafraid of looking foolish in pursuit of truth that exists beyond the margins of accepted knowledge. This is early twentieth-century weird fiction at its most intellectually ambitious: a novel that takes spiritualism seriously as both a scientific puzzle and a window into darker regions of human experience. For readers who crave the thrill of watching a brilliant mind prod at the boundaries between what is known and what might be real.
