The Virgin-Birth of Our Lord: A Paper Read (in Substance) Before the Confraternity of the Holy Trinity at Cambridge

A theological treatise written in the early 20th century. This work examines the doctrine of the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ, arguing for its inseparability from the Christian understanding of the Incarnation. Randolph presents historical evidence, scriptural references, and theological implications to support the necessity of believing in the Virgin Birth within the framework of Christian faith. In this book, Randolph discusses the historical beliefs surrounding the Virgin Birth, citing early Church Fathers and significant theological figures to underscore its foundational role in Christianity. He emphasizes that the belief in the Virgin Birth has always been linked to the belief in the Incarnation, asserting that without the miraculous circumstances of Christ’s birth, His divinity and the transformative nature of His mission would be undermined. Randolph argues that the Virgin Birth not only upholds the uniqueness of Christ but is also essential for understanding His role as the Second Adam, marking a new beginning for humanity. The text serves as a defense against modern interpretations that seek to separate the Virgin Birth from Christian doctrine, asserting that doing so diminishes the core tenets of faith.
