The Village in the Mountains; Conversion of Peter Bayssière; and History of a Bible

''The Village in the Mountains; Conversion of Peter Bayssière; and History of a Bible'' is a historical narrative by Sampson Vryling Stoddard Wilder, likely written in the early 19th century. The story follows a merchant, M. ----, who encounters a devout village in the mountains struggling for spiritual sustenance. Through his interactions with the villagers, particularly an elderly widow, he becomes inspired to provide them with copies of the New Testament, highlighting themes of faith, community, and the transformative power of scripture amidst adversity.
