The Trial and Execution of the Sparrow for Killing Cock Robin

What happens when Cock Robin's murder goes to court? This delightfully macabre 19th-century poem takes a familiar nursery rhyme and spins it into a savage little courtroom drama. The Sparrow stands accused, Justice Hawk presides over the proceedings, and a parade of witnesses the Dog, the Pig, the Cuckoo take the stand. But beneath the whimsy lies something sharper: a razor-thin satire on justice systems where the verdict feels pre-ordained and the judge holds all the power. The trial ambles with absurdist humor until its darkly perfect conclusion: the Sparrow is condemned and eaten by the very Hawk who presided. It's a children's story that teaches, with uncomfortable honesty, how authority often devours the accused. The rhyme survives for good reason it's a pitch-black comedy about guilt, innocence, and the toothless nature of fairness.
