The Story of Chanukah

The Story of Chanukah by Benjamin Sacks, written in the early 20th century, provides a historical and religious account of the Jewish festival of Chanukah. It details the Maccabean revolt against Seleucid rule, the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem, and the significance of the festival, including the miracle of the oil. The narrative covers key events such as the persecution of Jews under Antiochus IV and the victories of Judas Maccabeus, culminating in the establishment of Chanukah as an eight-day celebration of dedication and light.
