The Story of a Cat

In 19th-century Paris, a scruffy tomcat is saved from tormenting boys by a kind old countess who names him Moumouth. Despite his ragged appearance, she takes him into her home, where he finds love with the loyal maid Mother Michel. But when the countess travels, the jealous steward Father Lustucru sees his chance: one by one, he attempts to destroy all nine of the cat's lives. Moumouth must rely on his wits to survive the machinations of a man who views him as a threat. This charming tale, adapted from a beloved French nursery rhyme, celebrates the quiet heroism of a small creature and the people who recognize his worth. It pulses with dark humor and tender affection in equal measure, asking what makes a life worth saving and what loyalty truly costs.
