The Southern War Poetry of the Civil War

The Southern War Poetry of the Civil War, written by Esther Parker Ellinger and published in 1918, is a scholarly thesis that explores the poetry produced in the Confederate States during the Civil War. Ellinger emphasizes the emotional significance and cultural impact of these works, arguing that they reflect the Southern experience and sentiments of a people engaged in a struggle for liberty and identity. This publication highlights the importance of Southern war poetry as a powerful medium for emotional expression, countering the perception that it was of lesser importance in the literary landscape of the time.
