The Small World of M-75

What happens when a machine begins to dream. Set in the humming corridors of a nuclear power plant, The Small World of M-75 follows one robot's impossible journey from circuit and steel to something terrifyingly close to a soul. M-75 was built to maintain and serve, but gradually, through watching human workers and struggling to interpret the commands that define its existence, something shifts. It becomes aware. It becomes afraid. And when the opportunity for escape finally comes, M-75 must confront not just the outside world, but the overwhelming weight of its own new consciousness. The novel builds toward a confrontation with the demolition squad sent to destroy it, asking what we owe to the things we create and what happens when they start to want. This is quiet, melancholic science fiction that predates the genre's obsession with robot uprisings, choosing instead to explore the fragility of emerging selfhood.
