The Shinto Cult: A Christian Study of the Ancient Religion of Japan

The Shinto Cult: A Christian Study of the Ancient Religion of Japan, written by Milton Spenser Terry in the early 20th century, is a scholarly examination of Shinto, Japan's indigenous religion. The work explores Shinto's beliefs, practices, and historical significance while drawing parallels to Christian teachings, particularly for missionaries in Japan. Terry emphasizes Shinto's roots in ancestor worship and its connection to Japanese identity, providing a comprehensive overview of the religion's geographical and historical context. This text serves as both a manual for understanding Shinto and a resource for Christian outreach in Japan.
