The Roses of Saint Elizabeth

Set in the medieval town of Eisenach, at the foot of the legendary Wartburg Castle, this turn-of-the-century children's novel follows Katrina, the caretaker's daughter, and her friend Fritz as they wander through halls that once sheltered saints and revolutionaries. The children trace the footsteps of Saint Elizabeth, the castle's beloved queen whose charity became legend, and Martin Luther, the rebellious reformer who translated the Bible in these very walls while in hiding. Through whispered stories and sunlit adventures, Katrina and Fritz absorb the castle's living history, discovering that the true treasure of Wartburg is not its gold or fame but the enduring power of kindness, sacrifice, and lives devoted to others. A gentle meditation on how children inherit the spiritual wealth of those who came before them, told with the warm conviction that love is the only inheritance that multiplies when given away.
