The Profanity of Paint

The Profanity of Paint, written by William Kiddier and first published in 1916, is a philosophical treatise on art and creativity. Kiddier explores the nature of painting, the role of the artist, and the emotional connection between color and the human experience. He critiques conventional art education, advocating for authenticity and a deep respect for the beauty of nature, particularly trees, which he reveres as subjects that challenge his artistic abilities. This work is notable for its romanticist perspective and its introspective examination of inspiration and artistic intent.
