The Proceedings of the Canadian Eclipse Party, 1869

The Proceedings of the Canadian Eclipse Party, 1869, by E. D. Ashe, is a detailed account of a Canadian team's observations during a solar eclipse in the United States. Written in the late 19th century, it documents the logistical challenges faced by the expedition, including transportation of equipment and customs issues, as well as personal anecdotes from the journey. The book provides insights into the scientific observations made during the eclipse, particularly the phenomenon of totality, and reflects on the significance of their findings in the context of contemporary astronomy. This work is a notable contribution to the history of scientific exploration and solar eclipses.
