The North American Slime-Moulds: A Descriptive List of All Species of Myxomycetes Hitherto Reported from the Continent of North America, with Notes on Some Extra-Limital Species

Published in the early 20th century, 'The North American Slime-Moulds' by Thomas H. Macbride is a comprehensive scientific work detailing all reported species of Myxomycetes in North America. The book explores the unique characteristics, classifications, and life cycles of slime-moulds, emphasizing their ecological significance in moisture-rich environments. Macbride distinguishes between the vegetative phase, known as plasmodium, and the reproductive phase that produces spores, providing a thorough understanding of these organisms' roles in decomposition and ecosystem health.
