The Makers of Canada: Bishop Laval

The Makers of Canada: Bishop Laval, written by Adrien Leblond in the early 20th century, chronicles the life of François de Laval, the first Bishop of Quebec. It details his significant role in establishing the Catholic Church in Canada during the 17th century, including the challenges he faced in evangelizing indigenous populations and navigating the socio-political landscape of New France. The book also explores the efforts of early missionaries and the cultural interactions between European settlers and indigenous tribes, providing a comprehensive historical account of Laval's contributions to Canadian history.
