The King Nobody Wanted

The King Nobody Wanted, written by Norman F. Langford and first published in 1948, is a juvenile biography that narrates the life of Jesus Christ against the backdrop of Jewish expectations for a Messiah. The book contrasts the anticipated glory of a liberating king with the humble and often misunderstood reality of Jesus' life and ministry. It explores themes of hope and disillusionment among the Jewish people under Roman rule, illustrating their longing for salvation and the challenges Jesus faced in conveying his message. This work provides a historical perspective on the significance of Jesus as a figure who defied conventional ideas of kingship.
