The Invisible Government

1962. The Cold War burns bright and America is terrified of something it cannot name: unseen forces pulling strings in rooms where ordinary citizens never go. Dan Smoot, a former FBI agent turned polemicist, wrote exactly the book this moment demanded. He argues that the United States is not governed by elected officials but by an "invisible government" of elites operating through the Council on Foreign Relations, academia, and media. These figures, Smoot contends, have systematically advanced a one-world socialist agenda since World War II, infiltrating policy circles regardless of which party holds power. The book sold over a million copies and became the template for every subsequent conspiracy theory about the New World Order, the Trilateral Commission, and secret global governance. Whether you find it terrifying or tinfoil, it remains essential reading for understanding a particular American strain of political paranoia that refuses to die.
