The History of the Revolutions of Portugal

''The History of the Revolutions of Portugal'' is a historical account by Abbé de Vertot, first published in 1750. This work details the key events and revolutions in Portugal, particularly focusing on the power shifts and roles of various kings from the 1640 revolution onward. The narrative emphasizes the complex relationships between rulers and the common people, as well as foreign influences on Portugal's political landscape. It serves as both a historical record and an educational text on the evolution of the Portuguese monarchy and its significance in European history.
