The Great Fraud of Ulster

The Great Fraud of Ulster is a devastating account of one of history's most systematic thefts. T.M. Healy documents how English officials during the Tudor and Stuart periods systematically plundered Ulster through forgery, manipulation, and betrayal, seizing lands that rightfully belonged to Irish chieftains and reducing a proud nobility to poverty and exile. The book reads like an indictment. Healy reconstructs the intricate web of legal chicanery by which documents were forged, royal letters manipulated, and the Irish legal system subverted to rob entire clans of their ancestral lands. The author names names and cites documents. This is not vague historical grievance but specific, documented corruption driven by personal ambition and imperial greed. Written in 1917, when Ireland was still fighting for independence, Healy's account carries the urgency of a people confronting the foundations of their dispossession. The fraud he describes did not end with the Stuart dynasty. Its consequences echo into the present. For readers interested in Irish history, colonial resistance, or the mechanics by which empire steals land, this is essential and unflinching work.
