The Gray Goose's Story

Step into a sunlit farmyard circa 1906, where Aunt Amy settles by the pond with her animal friends and listens to the world-weary wisdom of Mrs. Gray Goose. These aren't your typical fables, the gray goose spins tales and recites verses about life's small lessons: the foolish boy who steals eggs, the greedy creature who learns contentment the hard way, the quiet rewards of kindness. Through playful dialogue between the geese, the hens, and that troublesome lad named Teddy, Amy Prentice weaves a gentle tapestry of moral instruction that never feels like preaching. The animals gossip, argue, and philosophize with the assurance of creatures who have seen many seasons. This is early twentieth-century children's literature at its most beguiling: a world where wisdom comes wrapped in humor, where the pond is a stage, and where a gray goose holds the audience captive with her poetic stories of friendship, folly, and finding peace. Perfect for reading aloud at bedtime or curling up with alone.
