The Flying Saucers Are Real

In the anxious years after World War II, strange objects began appearing over American military installations and civilian skies, and the government dismissed them as hallucinations or weather balloons. But a retired Marine Corps major with decades of aviation experience wasn't satisfied with the official line. Donald E. Keyhoe spent years interviewing pilots, radar operators, and military officials, compiling testimony from thousands of credible witnesses who had seen the same impossible things: craft moving at speeds and in patterns no human technology could achieve. His investigation uncovered a pattern of official denials contradicted by classified documents, and a disturbing question at its heart: what were the authorities really hiding? The book culminates in Keyhoe's controversial but carefully argued conclusion that these flying saucers were extraterrestrial, and that a systematic cover-up was underway. More than sixty years later, this remains the foundational text of modern UFO research, a meticulously reported work that reads like a Cold War thriller and raises unsettling questions about who really controls the truth.
