In this charming Victorian fable, a loyal dog named Fido loses his beloved Tittums to a flashy parrot named Mr. Paul, who woos her with grand promises of adventure. Fido watches helplessly as his true and faithful heart is dismissed for the parrot's hollow charm. But when Tittums discovers Mr. Paul courting another (the Widow Daw), her illusion shatters and she finally sees the faithless parrot for what he truly is. Returning to Fido, she discovers that his quiet devotion was always worth more than flashy words. The dog grows in stature, the parrot suffers the consequences of his deceit, and true love is earned through loyalty rather than performance. It's a sweet, slight fable about the tortoise-and-hare dynamics of love: the flashy competitor may win initially, but the faithful heart endures.
