The Disaster Which Eclipsed History: The Johnstown Flood

The Disaster Which Eclipsed History: The Johnstown Flood, written by R. K. Fox in the late 19th century, provides a detailed historical account of the catastrophic flood that struck Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on May 31. The narrative captures the chaos and destruction caused by the failure of the South Fork Dam, detailing the human suffering, loss of life, and the community's struggle to recover. Fox's work serves as both a poignant reminder of the fragility of human life in the face of natural disasters and a critical examination of the social and economic conditions that contributed to the tragedy.
