The corsair; a romantic legend of Hell Gate

In the sweltering summer of 1627, a cursed pirate of Viking descent steers his ship toward Hell Gate, seeking the watery grave he believes will end his ancestral torment. His only companion is Leonore, his daughter, who has never known any home but the salt-worn deck beneath her feet. When catastrophe strikes and the legend of the Corsair collides with the deadly currents of the East River, Leonore must find courage beyond her years. This late-19th century narrative poem weaves together the thunderous poetry of the sea with the intimate tenderness of a father's love expressed through ruin. Allen crafts a tale of ancestral sin and its shadow upon the living, of a man's desperate attempt to spare his child from the fate he earned through violence. The legend culminates in transformation, where peril gives way to safety for the maritime traffic that would follow. For readers who crave romantic adventure with gothic undertones, who want to feel the salt spray and the weight of old curses pressing down on the living.
