The Bible, King James Version, Book 44: Acts

The sequel to the Gospel of Luke begins where the resurrection leaves off. Jesus has ascended. His followers wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Then comes Pentecost: tongues of fire, languages spoken in wonder, a Spirit that empowers ordinary people to do extraordinary things. This is the explosive birth of a movement that will reshape the world. The narrative follows two intertwined journeys. Peter, the fisherman turned apostle, heals the lame, confronts authorities, and begins the impossible task of spreading this new faith beyond Judaism. Paul, the zealous persecutor who encounters the risen Christ on the Damascus road, transforms into the greatest missionary in history, bringing the message from city to city across the Roman Empire. Through shipwrecks, beatings, imprisonments, and riots, the gospel advances until it reaches Rome itself. Acts is the founding document of Christianity: the moment a small band of frightened disciples becomes a movement destined to span the globe. It captures the early church's激情, its struggles, its miraculous expansion, and the mysterious presence that sustained it all.
