The Bible, Douay-Rheims, Book 47: Matthew is a translation of the Gospel of Matthew, first published in 1609 as part of the Douay-Rheims Bible. This Gospel, likely written in the late 1st century AD, details the life, teachings, and works of Jesus Christ, emphasizing His role as the Messiah and the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. The text includes significant events such as Jesus' genealogy, birth, baptism, and teachings, and is notable for its historical significance as one of the earliest English translations of the Bible, revised by Bishop Richard Challoner in the 18th century to modernize its language while preserving its theological accuracy.
