Telling Fortunes by Cards: A Symposium of the Several Ancient and Modern Methods as Practiced by Arab Seers and Sibyls and the Romany Gypsies

Long before cartomancy became parlor entertainment, it was sacred practice. Prophets and sibyls read the cards as vessels of truth, and kings consulted them alongside advisors. This handbook gathers the methods of Arab seers, Romany gypsies, and ancient sibyls into one volume, offering anyone willing to study the cards the chance to glimpse what lies beyond ordinary sight. The author weaves historical weight with practical instruction, from the legend of Josephine receiving prophetic readings that foretold her imperial rise to detailed spreads beginners can actually use. What emerges is not merely a how-to guide but a window into a time when believing in the cards' power was not eccentricity but orthodoxy. Whether you approach it as curiosity or conviction, the book promises something rare: a connection to centuries of seekers who turned to paper and ink seeking answers the present could not provide.
