Suomen Kansan Vanhoja Runoja Ynnä Myös Nykyisempiä Lauluja 2

A collection of traditional Finnish poetry and contemporary songs compiled in the early 19th century. The book serves as a reservoir of Finnish folklore, drawing on ancient stories and modern narratives that reflect the cultural and societal issues of the time. Its content likely revolves around themes of nature, mythology, and everyday life in Finland, offering a rich tapestry of the nation's artistic heritage. The collection encompasses two main parts: old runes and contemporary songs. The old runes explore ancient myths, including the origins of various creatures and natural phenomena, with verses dedicated to significant figures such as Väinämöinen and Ilmarinen, echoing the traditions established in the Finnish epic ''Kalevala.'' In contrast, the contemporary songs address everyday themes, social commentary, and historical events, often infused with humor and satire. Together, these elements preserve the voice and experience of the Finnish people, connecting them to their cultural roots while also adapting to the changing times.
