Sketches of the East Africa Campaign

Sketches of the East Africa Campaign, published in 1918 by Captain Robert Valentine Dolbey, is a collection of personal letters detailing his experiences during World War I in East Africa. The narrative provides a vivid account of the daily life and challenges faced by British soldiers, including food shortages, tropical diseases, and the harsh terrain, contrasting these with the chaos of combat. Dolbey's work offers a unique perspective on the human aspects of warfare, emphasizing survival over strategy, and serves as a poignant historical document of the campaign's realities.
