Satiren

Published in 1893, 'Satiren' is a collection of satirical poems by Quintus Horatius Flaccus, a prominent Roman poet of the Augustan era (43 BC - 14 AD). The work consists of two books featuring ten and eight poems, respectively, written in hexameter. Horace uses humor and dialogue to address moral issues and social vices such as greed, infidelity, and gluttony, aiming to reveal uncomfortable truths about human behavior. Unlike his predecessor Lucilius, Horace critiques only deceased figures and societal outsiders, often reflecting on his own flaws.
